We spent the weekend of the 4th w/ my (Jill's) family. We had a great time, and Nana and Pop-Pop enjoyed seeing Rachel, of course! I took my Dad around the Pentagon, we went to the Air & Space museum (I won't post those pics.....Ben had the camera and it's all of planes), and we even got hooked up w/ (thanks Scott!) sweet parking for the fireworks that allowed us to sit on the edge of the tidal basin for a really close-up, loud view and then be out of the city in less than 5 minutes. The fireworks were amazing at this location! Rachel was happily asleep at home w/ her Nana...otherwise, I think she would have cried the whole time....and we wouldn't have sat right at the edge of the tidal basin w/ our feet hanging over the edge;-)
And, here's our little firecracker now:-)(these were attempts to get pics before she went to bed....you get what you get, right?)
This was our view.....we sat right at the edge of the water, and could see the Washington Monument w/ the fireworks going off a little to the left of the monument. It made me feel really patriotic to know that this was "our backyard" for the time being. Ben and I agreed that D.C. is a great city to live in.....especially when you can leave the fireworks (after the grand finale) and be out of the city in less than five minutes....loved that. Thanks again, Scott!
