Oh, face to face with trouble,
friend, I have often stood,
to learn that pain hath sweetness,
to know that God is good;
This always resonates with me....pain does have sweetness....sometimes I don't want to admit that, but as a Christian, it is true. The outpouring of love from others during times of trial has always amazed me. In the past two weeks, we've had cards, meals, gift baskets, gift cards, cookies, help from friends and family, childcare, and the list goes on. I feel so blessed to be cared for so well. It's always a reminder to me of how the Lord provides - even in the small details of life. It has also helped me to remember that as God provides for the little details in life - comfort and encouragement, how much more He has provided in my ultimate salvation. All the encouragement and help has pointed me to the cross that Jesus bore for me in my place.
One of the other really cool blessings was that I got to hear firsthand from some of Ben's coworkers on how much they love working with him:-) I find my husband to be particularly smart and efficient, but it's always fun for me to listen to what others have to say about him! It definitely made his hospital stay more entertaining!
As far as updates, no major updates...Ben has a smidge of feeling returning to his thumb and pointer finger, but the rest remains the same. He still gets headaches and some fatigue, but we no longer have to do the injections for his one blood thinner since his Coumadin levels are high enough (actually a little to high and have to be monitored and reduced). We head to a research neurologist and a cardiologist this week. We expect them to have differing opinions on his PFO again and that we will need to come to a decision point on whether to have the opening closed or not. We would appreciate your prayers for peace and wisdom on this. It would be particularly helpful if neurology and cardiology were in agreement on this one, but we shall see what the week looks like.
The girls continue to be busy and active and require lots of energy from us:-) Rachel and Naomi continue to ask Ben if his stroke is gone yet. Life is slowly returning back to normal. Ben went back to work this past week, and will probably do more hours this week. We're thankful that he's been able to get back to work sooner this time, and we continue to pray for a full recovery, as well as wisdom on the causes.
