Daddy Daughter Time

Ben got some good snuggles and reading time in w/ Rachel before he had to head to Detroit earlier this week. Thankfully, it was just a quick overnight trip. Of course, it's a little harder now that Rachel will leave him messages "Luu u, Daddy" "Miss you" and "soon (stand for see you soon)"......basically breaks his heart;-) But, after her long overdue bath Monday night, she got into her snuggly PJs, curled up w/ Daddy and a book, and enjoyed some Daddy/daughter moments before he had to leave on a "hairplane."

It was a little hard to get her to smile....Rachel either ignores the camera, gives a blank stare, or provides a cheesy smile (which of course we laugh at, which encourages her to continue to do it....vicious cycle!) while saying in a nasel-y voice (b/c her nose is all scrunched up) "smmiiilllee, smmmilllle." Lately, she also likes to look at the pictures on the camera or camcorder.....which limits the photo and video sessions. Oh well.

On a side note, Ben realized that it was a little cooler out in Detroit....and when looking for a long sleeve shirt, he decided to just go for orange in honor of the Bears (he actually just picked this one due to comfort and b/c it's one of the few that didn't shrink too badly in the arms - one of the struggles of being tall) and not wear one of his Bears long sleeve shirts right after the Chicago Bears trounced the Detroit Lions. Plus, we've found in different situations, that having sports stuff either at the house or on our clothes can cause weird, uncomfortable conversations to strike up w/ strangers. Our locksmith commented on Ben's Chicago Bears helmet (which for a very short period of time resided on our mantel during the move)....b/c he said he was an obnoxious Redskins fan.....great, welcome to our home! Ben has had some weird conversations w/ people on planes....all due to wearing a Duke or Penn State t-shirt. He doesn't make that mistake again.....b/c those are the people that don't stop bashing your team and you really don't want to pick a fight w/ them but how do you get to them to stop talking to you?!?!? Ok, enough rambling.....back to the pics (it's been a while since I've blogged....clearly, I have a lot to say!) :-)
