Cat, Kid, and Catchin' Up

Earlier in the week, I was in the kitchen and Rachel was just outside the kitchen sitting at her bookcase playing. I started to hear a little "Heh...heh, heh". A few seconds went by, and I heard another "aheh...heh, heh." I peered over the counter tops to see what was making her laugh. I see her staring at Puma (our cat), and he's staring back at her, and he's cracking her up. LOL. He didn't look very impressed and continued to lounge in his corner, and she calmly went on laughing at him. All this continued until I got down on the floor w/ them to take some pictures. Of course, the cat then got up and Rachel started to look at me:) Oh well.

Of course, Rachel's no better...stops what she's doing to smile at the camera. In other news, I hope to be taking even more pictures. Ben got me the Canon PowerShot camera as an early birthday gift. We have a very nice camera that his parents gave to us when they upgraded, but for a while (well, since Rachel was born), I've wanted one that I can easily fit in the diaper bag. So, thanks to my husband, I now have that. Hopefully, that'll result in more pictures when we're out and about....although we do already take a lot already, but I hope to be like Beth Spraul (Rachel's the one in the car seat in the back - I think she was actually napping for me that day).....and be prepared even at church so that if the little ones are playing together so cutely, I too can catch it:) Thanks Ben!

Ok, and here's a little rant I have about something I read in Parents Magazine. I got it for some weird, random reasons; however, I was reading something on movies and young kids going to R rated films and PG13 films.....w/ their parents. Apparently, the parents think the violence and whatnot will go right over their heads?!!?? So, the "experts" response to this is that "parents need better tools to help decide which films to let their kids see." I about exploded when I read that. Even now, I'm flabberghasted. Are you kidding me? Here's a tool: common sense. I don't understand how some survive in this world.....they take their kids to utterly inappropriate movies and then instead of taking responsibility for this lack of judgement, they blame it on the industry, society, you name it! Okay, stepping off of my soapbox now:)

Last tidbit....this just in. We have finally purchased a new couch and matching chair!!! We figured it was high time we got rid of our couch that has staples and nails falling out of it (we covered it - it had a teal background w/ flowers on it). We're very happy to have finally upgraded.....and now we're starting to look into measures to take to ensure the cats claws don't sync into the new one and ruin it like the old one. We've been very blessed to be the recipients of handed-down furniture.....it fillled up our house in Johnstown, PA quite nicely. But, we're both very happy today to have this new furniture in a few weeks that'll meet our tastes and safety needs!
